You experience sudden happiness after working extremely hard for something you wanted to achieve you have now achieved. The feeling is great, you feel contented for once. All your stresses in life go away as you feel a sense of accomplishment and relaxation. You feel as if all your hard work to doing that specific thing payed off to the medal/medals that you got.

Most importantly it's only your hard work that matter, whether you get anything in return for it, or not. Keep working hard and you will get something big, bigger than what you wanted yesterday.
